ABN AMRO is one of the oldest and largest banks of the Netherlands and over the course of time it has amassed an impressive collection of artworks and historical objects. The works of the collection are not only used to decorate the bank’s own offices but are also made available for exhibitions, loans, historical research and publications. The unique ABN AMRO collection is a reflection of the role the bank has played in society right up to the present day.

Foundation

ABN AMRO’s Art & History Foundation (Stichting Kunst & Historisch Bezit ABN AMRO) was created to maintain, manage and develop ABN AMRO’s collection of art and historical objects. The foundation sees the collection as part of our national heritage and endeavours to make it as accessible as possible for the general public. It exhibits artworks and historical objects in the buildings of the bank and makes material available for study. We also lend objects to leading museums and other institutions.

Art Collection

Art is emotion. Art inspires. Art is original and imparts its own unique perspectives to everyday reality. The ABN AMRO art collection has been a source of inspiration for clients, visitors and employees for decades. The art collection also reflects the bank’s social engagement. By collecting, caring for and exhibiting contemporary art, irreplaceable works of art are being preserved for future generations. The contemporary art collection consists primarily of post-war works by artists who have ties to the Netherlands, as well as international accents.

Historical Collection

A company’s history can be a source of inspiration, of pride and surprise, for its staff as well its clients and relations. Every company has its own history and therefore its own unique heritage. ABN AMRO has decided to place its heritage in the custody of a special foundation, together with its modern art collection. To preserve it for future generations of staff, clients and the general public.
